Our Legal Status
Because We Can (bWc) is a non-profit corporation and a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity. We were granted non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on 22 April 2015, and were granted tax-exempt status by the IRS on 23 March 2016 (effective 22 April 2015). Additionally, our public charity status is authorized under IRS Codes 170(b) (1) (A) (vi).

All donations, bequests, devises, transfers, and gifts to bWc qualify as tax-deductible.
Your Donations

100% of your donations go to help those in need. Not 70%, not 80%, but 100%...and we can prove it! Anyone and everyone has access to our donations, expenses, and purchase receipts, just scroll down on this page to see them.
Our Finances

However, even a small charity requires additional funding to cover operating costs, such as a website, e-mail addresses, banking fees, fees to the IRS and the Commonwealth of Virginia, stationary, etc. These are NOT/NOT covered by your donations; they have always been covered by the Founder out of his personal finances. As bWc grows, we will seek grants from corporations and philanthropists to cover operating expenses, so that your donations always and entirely go toward those in need.

Though bWc is made up of honest and selfless individuals, you help keep us honest, and you ensure those in need receive everything you intended for them, so thank you!
